Stephane D'Astous, a man with a huge amount of experience working within the gaming industry, has joined fledgling studio Hibernum Creations as the company's new Chief Operating Officer. D'Astous, who previously held positions with Ubisoft and Eidos Montreal, joins following his rocky departure from the latter towards the end of last year.
When leaving Eidos, D'Astous was damning in his criticism of the company, saying:
The lack of leadership, lack of courage and the lack of communication were so evident, that I wasn't able to conduct my job correctly.I realized that our differences were irreconcilable, and that the best decision was unfortunately to part ways.
He'll no doubt be hoping that things turn out a little better in his new position, and Hibernum's CEO Frederick Fauber has been glowing in his praise for the former Ubisoft man, issuing a statement welcoming him to the team:
This is a great day for Hibernum. We are very proud to have Stephane join the team and bring his experience to the management team. As we continue to position the studio as a top video games developer and brand creator, the arrival of Stephane will make everyone better in the studio.
To date Hibernum has worked on a number of projects, both creating games like mobile title Calling all Mixels for The Cartoon Network, and working as outsourced talent for specific tasks on titles including crafting cinematics for Batman: Armored Edition for Warner Bros. Games Montreal.
