Neil Druckmann, creator of Naughty Dog's smash hit The Last of Us, has stated that the movie version of the game will be a straight adaptation of the source material, however he remains unsure as to how exactly things may change down the line to take into consideration the differences between the linearity of movies and the interactivity of video games.
Speaking at last night's BAFTA Game Awards 2014, Druckmann had the following to say:
It’s an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us. As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film... We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.
When asked about the possibility of a sequel to the successful game, Druckmann claimed that the studio was still in the brainstorming process, and had no idea if or when things would come together on the project.
